Charlotte's White Rhino Movie...

Charlotte spent a lot of time in the school holidays preparing this movie on the White Rhino.  This was inspired after our trip to Orana Park and the follow up we did in class.  Fantastic work Charlotte - you have demonstrated creativity, excellence, initiative and fun!

Lucy's special grandfathers....

Lucy brought in some special items today that were her grandfathers' from the war.  One was a wallet that her grandfather got in Egypt and the other was a special newspaper article that her other grandad appeared in when his boat sank on the way to Korea!  What special momentos to have Lucy!

Anzac Biscuits ...

Thank you to the mums who came in to help make ANZAC biscuits with us on Thursday afternoon!  They were delicious!   They were good biscuits during war time because the ingredients were easy to send on the journey without perishing!  We bet the soldiers looked forward to their arrivals!

Lest we Forget

Today we had our very special 100 year Anzac ceremony. The children got to hear what the Last Post sounded like when played on a trumpet. We also had some quiet time to remember those soldiers who had gone to war, so that the world could be a better place for us to live in. Each class had a white cross with a soldier's name on it to place in our own remembrance garden.

Our Special Soldier ...

This Friday we will be holding a very special ANZAC service at school.  Each class will have a cross that represents a soldier who fought in WW1.  Our soldier is Private John O'Carroll.  Mrs Brown chose this soldier because her late father's name was John Carroll - we don't think they are related!
Private John O'Carroll was from St Albans, which means a lot to us.  We will be thinking of him tomorrow as we put his cross out during the ceremony.

ANZAC Images

This week we are researching and making posters relating to different aspects of war.  It would be great if you can find four images to do with your topic at home, online, and print them to bring to school!

Animal Posters

Following on from our trip to Orana Park some children choose to create a poster about an animal of interest during the school holidays. They shared their wonderful posters with the class today.

Vili came up with a very creative way of sharing his learning using a box with information on the outside and a kiwi habitat inside.
