Athletics Day

We had near perfect weather for the year 2 and 3 athletics day - not too hot or too cold! The children all did really well and should be proud of their successes. Having spent most of the day on the high jump event I wasn't able to get any photos of the children, so please send along any good ones you have and we will add them to the blog.

Light

Today we had to try to bounce a beam of light around an object using mirrors. It was quite tricky trying to get the angles of the mirrors correct to reflect the light in the right direction.

Some children managed to bounce the light around two objects before shining it on the vehicle.

Harry

Harry completed the children's 3km run in Queenstown at the weekend. It involved running up and down some hills, as well as some flat parts. After running nearly 3km he had to finish the race by running up a hill. He received an unusual shaped medal for his achievement.

Torches

If you have a small torch at home please can you bring it to school on Friday, so that we can use in class for our inquiry on Light. It would be a good idea to name it.

What Now

At the weekend Alfie went to What Now and was lucky enough to get chosen to enter a competition. He managed to dodge 10 gunge balloons and won an amazing Star Wars prize.

Room 16 Poetry Competition

Well done to all the children who did an amazing job in memorising their poem. It can be quite a daunting experience reciting a poem in front of an audience and we know there were a few butterflies in some tummies! Special congratulations go to Annabel, Rory and Charlotte who will be representing Room 16 in the Year 3 and 4 poetry competition on Thursday afternoon.

The Nutcracker

Lucy, Rory and Asuka starred in the performance of the Nutcracker at the weekend. We look forward to them telling us all about it.
