Showcase

The children were amazing in the Showcase. If you have any photos that we can add to the Blog please email them to us.

In class the children did a short piece of writing about the Showcase saying how they felt.

I felt worried when I went on to the brown wooden stage, because I might make a mistake at the very front of the stage.
I felt nervous when I was going to do the show, because there were lots of people.
I felt excited when it was time, because I was going to do three shows.
I felt a little sick when I was singing loudly.
I felt happy when I went off the stage, because I did three shows.

By Asuka

I felt proud to lead out the waka.
I felt excited when I went on the stage.
I felt a little nervous, like I had a herd of buffalo in my belly, when I went up the wooden stairs on our first Showcase performance.
I felt itchy wearing my maori headband and  waistband.
I felt exhausted when I finished the spectacular showcase.

By Vili

I felt worried about taking all of the girls onto the stage.
When I went on stage I felt surprised that I knew what to do.
I felt thankful for the parents for helping us.
When I wore my costume it was itchy on my neck.
I felt proud of myself after three shows!

Willie Wonka's new Drink!

Today Mr Willie Wonka asked Room 16 if we could help him out...

Good Morning! As you know, at my factory we make the most scrumdididdlumptious, fandabuloso chocolate products that the world has ever seen. However, recently I have noticed how boring the drinks are that are available. So I wanted to branch out into the drinks market and make the most fizzy-whizzy super-duper drink that the world has ever seen and that I would be proud to put my name on.

Unfortunately, my Oompa Loompas have all come down with a rotten cold and so cannot work! Therefore, if you would be so kind, I would like you to help me!
What you need to do is make a drink that is 500ml in total and uses 5 different ingredients, all of which I have kindly provided for you!

In our groups we had to plan how much of each ingredient we would use to create our drink, making sure that it totaled 500ml. Then we carefully measured our ingredients. All of the groups were fairly accurate with nearly 500ml. Finally we tasted our fizzy-whizzy, super-duper drink and it was scrumdididdlumptious! All but two children would definitely buy the drinks if Willie Wonka decided to manufacture them!

Flight attendants...

Look who Charlotte and her sister Olivia met on their flight to Sydney.  The lovely Miss Dunbar in her new role with Air New Zealand.  She quickly got Charlotte and Olivia to work as apprentice air hostesses! What a great experience!

Caught Reading....

Here is Tim, caught reading in Burger Fuel.  You look very 'lost' in your book Tim! Good on you - what a great thing to do while you're waiting for food to arrive!

Showcase....

Our Showcase Day is almost here!  Please make sure you all get a good night's sleep!  Practise your words again - do you know them off by heart!  You will all be fabulous!  We can't wait to see you on the stage in front of all your family!

RWC ... Georgia

Well done to Charlotte P for putting together this little clip on her RWC country, Georgia!  They did well to beat Tonga in their first game - I think that was an upset!  What great learning taking place from you Charlotte!

Showcase...

Thank you to all our amazing parent helpers who have contributed to the costume design and making for our Showcase. We are only 1 week away from presenting it to you!  We still have some additions to be made on our ocean costumes if you can spare an hour over the next few days!  Come and see us before school if you can help!

Rugby World Cup...

The RWC is starting this weekend!  Today we each picked a country playing in the RWC, to find out about.  There are some countries we don't know a lot about - so this is going to be great way to learn about a new place and culture.

Today we located our country on a map of the world and found out what their flag looks like.  Tonight we have been encouraged to find out some interesting facts about our country - the capital, language, currency and population.

We look forward to following our country (and the All Blacks of course) in the tournament that starts this weekend!

Measuring

Today we looked at measuring things to the nearest metre. At first some of our estimations were way off, but they did become more accurate as we measured more things.

Caught Reading

Joe was caught reading his book whilst at the Arboruim. Looks like a fun place to read a favourite story Joe!

Charlotte

Another member of our class has achieved an award at the end of season sports presentations. Charlotte was awarded the best player award for her hockey team. Well done Charlotte!
