Our new garden...

We have been staring at a 'dirt patch' outside our classroom for a while and wanted to make it look a lot better!  Fortunately Ms Ashby came to our rescue!  We wanted some low maintenance plants and Ms Ashby had a lot of succulents that she wanted to relocate!
We found out that succulents are sometimes known as the 'fat plant' as they have very thick leaves where they store water.  They can survive in very hot and dry climates for a long time.
So this afternoon the wonderful Jules worked with a group of green thumbed members of Room 16 to weed and plant the little area outside our room.  We plan to add more of the succulents we have and then bark over the dirt to keep the weeds down and to keep it looking very smart!
Thank you so much Jules - you're a star! And thank you Ms Ashby for your lovely succulents!

What our garden looked like to start with...
Pulling off the dead leafy parts of the succulents

 Hard at work...
Rory patting the dirt tight in around the succulent

Lily planting with Jules' help!
How our garden looks now! We have more plans for the garden so watch this space!!
